"Having an inclusive workforce means you can be comfortable as you work, secure in the knowledge that you have an employer who values you and values those things that make you, you! In turn, that leads to greater employee engagement, higher morale, higher productivity, and really delivering on our commitment to customer service. Customers are our number one priority."

Chief Administrative Officer Helen Robbins-Meyer

Diversity and Inclusion

As a department of the County of San Diego, the Sheriff's Office considers Diversity and Inclusion part of its mission to provide the highest quality public safety services to everyone in San Diego County.

The fifth most populous county in the United States since 2014, our county has a diverse demographic because of its proximity to Mexico, its military bases, and the global recruitment capabilities of its innovation economy, making it one of the most ethnically and culturally diverse places in the nation.

The charts below are based on our 2021 employee demographics.
